Console Tables – How to Decorate Your Home With Them

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

Home decorating is something that some take for granted, while others spend months trying to get it just right. Everyone has their own tastes in furnishings and home designs, which accounts for the many varieties of furnishings and styles of sofas, dining tables, floor coverings and console tables. For the purpose of decorating, we are using the living room as our example because it’s the room that has the largest varieties of furnishings and decorative items.

Professional designers will often tell you that simple is often better. When you walk into a home and it’s cluttered, it gives off a messy appearance. The furnishings may be expensive and the home may be free of dirt and dust, but if it’s cluttered, who’s going to notice? A living room that is tastefully decorated with simple furnishings such as lamps, three-piece furniture and console tables can look extremely elegant with the right touches. The question phrase too many is “tastefully decorated”, as many are uncertain as to what this entails.

When it comes to home decorating, more is not better, it’s just more. This is not to say all your living room should consist of is a couch, console tables and one lamp. However, too many homeowners find many home decorating items and when they can’t decide which to buy, they buy them all. They then try to cram them into one living room. Combine this with a family spending a lot of time in this room and you have clutter. Regardless of how clean the room is kept, it’s going to appear too cluttered.

Buying a home today is very expensive and many can’t afford expensive furnishings after making the home purchase. You don’t need expensive furniture to have an elegant home that everyone will want to visit or where your family will feel comfortable. Make the most of the furnishings you do have. Console tables have always been a major part of the furniture in living rooms. In fact, console tables are so functional and versatile; you often see them in other rooms as well. They can be used as telephone stands, utility stands and end tables. If you have a corner in the room that makes your room look empty, why not place a console table with a live plant sitting on top. When I say live plant, I mean live plant-not a silk plant. Live plants are very much in style right now.

A living room set consisting of a sofa, loveseat and chair will look beautiful with a couple of console tables in front or to the side of the furniture. Do not clutter them with lots of junk, however. A simple decoration, candle, magazine or statue will look great and accent the table. Many people will use console tables against the wall as a place to display their family portraits.

Lighting is also important in your living room. Don’t use too much or you and your guests will feel you’re in a large ballroom. If there’s not enough, you’ll feel you’re in a bar at night. Stagger your lighting with lamps, hanging lights, ceiling lights, etc. with appropriate bulb sizes. The new energy efficient light bulbs will save you money and look great.

Console tables situated near a chair with a small lamp will look very inviting to your family and guests as a place to read or just sit and relax.

Famous Interior Designers and Their Styles in Interior Design – Part 1

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

Introduction

This series of 4 articles takes a brief but informative look at 21 of the most famous and Interior Designers, from the earliest pioneers right through to the most celebrated modern day designers.

The Pioneers of Interior Design

Jean-Henri Jansen (1854-1928)

Dutch designer, Jean-Henri Jansen, launched one of the first ever international interior design companies ‘Maison Jansen’ (House of Jansen) in 1880, which became renowned for designing and creating exceptionally beautiful and high quality furniture which would be utilized in a multitude of interior decoration projects. House of Jansen opened branches in 8 of the major cities of the world. Jansen worked closely with the talented interior designer Stephane Boudin whom he made director of the company. The clients of House of Jansen included Royalty and the rich and famous.

Elsie de Wolfe (1865-1950)

The first lady of interior decoration, Elsie de Wolfe considered herself an ‘ugly child’. This Victorian stage actress was a rebel of her times and was credited by many to be the inventor of the modern profession of interior design, even though there were already established interior designers in her time. Elsie disliked Victorian tastes altogether, her designs were therefore generally made up of light and bright colors, contrary to the drab and gloomy Victorian d cor coupled with unnecessary excesses such as heavy velvet draperies. This was a pioneering departure from the contemporary designs of the time. Elsie’s influence continues to be felt in the modern world of interior design.

Ogden Codman (1863-1951)

American interior decorator and architect, Ogden Codman spent his childhood in his birthplace of Boston before heading to France in his youth for a period of time. Codman had two uncles who influenced him tremendously – architect John Hubbard and decorator Richard Ogden. Some of Ogden Codman’s works include Edith Wharton’s Newport home, Land’s End, the Rockefeller family estate of New York client John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and the Newport summer home of Cornelius Vanderbilt II. Along with novelist Edith Wharton, Codman co-authored a guidepost of American interior design, ‘The Decoration of Houses’ in 1897.

Frances Elkins (1888-1953)

Born in Milwaukee, Frances Adler Elkins was one of the most prominent interior decorator and designer of the previous century. Sister of the famed Chicago architect David Adler, Elkins was known for her futuristic designs that brought together different styles and elements from various periods. They included country French styles, chinoiserie and art deco. The furnishings featured in her designs included designers such as Jean-Michel Frank and Alberto Giacometti. The career of Elkins that spanned over three decades is glittered with many high profile commissions in Hawaii, the Midwest and northern and southern California, none more interesting than the restoration of the 1830s structure, Casa Amesti in Monterrey, California.

Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959)

Frank Lloyd Wright was an interior designer and architect whose career included more than 1000 projects, 500 of them that have been complete. Wright was known for his promotion of organic architecture, an example of which is Fallingwater. The Robie House is an example of Wright’s leadership of the Prairie School architectural movement, while the Rosenbaum House depicts Wright’s Usonian home concept. Wright also had refreshing ideas for every kind of building, be it church, office, school, hotel or museum. Along with excellent architectural renderings, Wright also designed much of the interiors of his buildings including the D cor, layout and furniture.

In Part 2 of this article – which can be accessed through the ‘Article Source’ link below – we take a look at the early interior designers including Fritz August Breuhaus, Stephan Bouldin, Emilio Terry and Dorothy Draper.

2-Inch Wood Blinds – Are They Really Practical For Your Windows?

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:04 pm

Are 2-inch wood blinds still the classic window covering of choice for discriminating decorators? Is their style so versatile to award you with a rustic, romantic, or even a modern home decor feel?

Simply said, will blinds with 2 -inch wood slats give you what you are looking for?

The popularity of the timeless look of wooden blinds has increased recently without a doubt.

Let’s take a quick look and review the uses of these classic blinds and their most practical applications.

The 2-inch wood blinds’ versatility makes them ideal for a variety of decorating and window covering purposes. North American hardwood or basswood makes up the very core ingredient these blinds are made of. The grade quality of the wood will influence the overall product price as well as the available warranty.

Besides the largely popular 2-inch wood slats, customers with deeper window frames occasionally chose two and a half inch slats. An important point to remember: The wider the slats, the less slats are necessary to cover the window, the less slats are in the view when they are down (unstacked and tilted open). In contrast, 1 inch wood slats create a “busy” look because of the need for more of them.

In general, you’ll find that natural wooden blinds usually have 1-inch, 2-inch, 2 5/8-inch or 3-inch-wide slat sizes. The wider slat sizes often craft a bolder, old-fashioned, shutter-type appearance.

Every wood blind comes with a matching decorative 3 – 3 1/2 -inch valance that covers the headrail and completes the natural, uniform and attractive look of the window covering. In general, these timeless blinds are a classic choice for those seeking the perfect match between the beauty of real wood and the simplicity of horizontal blinds.

Did you know that the most popular 2-inch wood blinds are the smart-shopper’s alternative to shutters? They still offer a warm and inviting look to any decor, but for up to 60% less than classic custom-made wood shutters.

Wooden slats can be painted or stained just the way you like them, allowing for a wide range of custom colors, shades and finishes. To tilt them, you can choose a wand or cord tilting system.
Would you prefer wood slats with a routless design to block the light coming through the rout holes the lift cords usually run through? That’s an available option – especially suitable for bedrooms. Besides the classic cord-and-clutch (or corded) control system, a cordless option is available to customers who prefer it.

How about the choices of decorative cloth tapes to match or contrast your home d cor? That’s yet another option that will influence the final look of your window covering.
If you have hard-to-reach windows, you can still get wood blinds and complete your window covering project with a smile and ease. Remote-control tilt makes it a snap to open or close the wooden slats from a distance.

In conclusion, 2-inch wood blinds or any other slat-width wood blinds offer you both variety and versatility other window blinds or shades can hardly match. No matter what your home d cor, wooden blinds make the perfect practical fit you’ll enjoy for years to come.

Crown Moldings

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

Crown moldings are an inexpensive and fabulous way to dress up a room. And nothing dresses up a room or a cabinet like the presence of crown molding, especially for the price. Why is crown molding an elegant way to dress up a room? Well, for one, it acts like a beautiful frame for a painting. You might have a beautiful piece of art, but how much better does it look in a beautiful and complimentary frame? The same goes for rooms, cabinets, etc. They may be beautiful on their own, but a little crown molding can act as a frame to make them even more eye catching. However, getting the right frame or in other words the right crown moldings is important. But do not worry, with such a wide array of profiles available, there’s a crown molding made to fit every space, and just as wide a selection of smaller profiles used on furniture, casework and cabinetry.

Crown molding is a great way to give your home a sense of added value, without spending much money. Many perceive crown molding as expensive, and equate it with wealth. However, this is a total misconception because it costs very little. So, why hasn’t everyone rushed to the lumberyard to buy up crown molding and add it to their home? Well, for one, installing crown molding really hasn’t been a DIY project because cutting compound angles and keeping track of inside and outside corners, not to mention all those splices and the molding’s various orientations, has been such a nightmare that most folks either call a pro, or balk at the cost of doing so. The material itself is inexpensive, but paying someone to install it can be costly. So, what can you do if you want crown moldings, and you do not want to pay the price for an installer?

To start we need to identify the reasons it is difficult to do it yourself, and then try to overcome them. If you can install crown moldings yourself then there should be nothing stopping you. It seems like the biggest problem with self installation of crown moldings has always been cutting the angles, rather than the actual installation. Why? How hard can it be? If the angles of your room were perfectly square, then this would be simple, but unfortunately most crown moldings don’t sit against the wall at 45 degrees, and the corners in your rooms are rarely a perfect 90 degrees. So, cutting them just right becomes problematic.

So, how do you solve this problem? You find tools that eliminate the problem and confusion, as well as the math because this is where many people mess up their crown moldings project. So, get a true angle measurer, and a miter saw that you feel comfortable using, and eliminate the guesswork.

Then, have fun cutting and installing beautiful crown molding.

Decorating With Kites

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

Want to add a special touch to a room in your home? Maybe you are planning an event, setting up a display for a school or a library or just have the urge to do something new. How about expressing your creative aspirations with kites? The kite has become a respectable new member in the world of design. Kites have been used to decorate homes, doctor offices, clinics, libraries, classrooms, aquariums, lobbies, and a whole host of events. It is literally true that the sky is the limit.

In several healing centers kites have been used to brighten up the space for the patients. This year students and faculty at San Diego State University created the (1) “Visual Therapy Sky Mural”. Student Lauren Holland spent long hours in the SDSU Fitness Clinic receiving therapy. The room was so dull and uninviting that Lauren dreamed of creating something wonderful for future patients to be surrounded by. The idea for the “Visual Therapy Sky Mural” began to blossom in her mind.

The Faculty/Student Mentoring Program in the College of Arts and letters took the project on. Professor Iisdro D. Ortiz Ph.D. helped to raise funds and a whole host of volunteers joined in to help with the project. The “Visual Therapy Sky Mural” is a childs dream-scape of a Pacific sky and sandy beach that runs the length of the 26-foot ceiling and continues onto the side wall. The ceiling is adorned with a beautiful arrangement of butterfly kites, ship kites and airplane kites that complement the mural. The results are stunning.

School teachers and librarians are using kites for special projects and displays. This year insects, butterflies and birds have been big hits. The kites make teaching and learning fun.

Aquariums use a variety of fish kites to highlight their themes. Imagine numerous Angel Fish Kites, Orca Whale Kites, Dolphin Kites, and even Octopus Kites decorating a major aquarium lobby. It really is impressive.

Grocery stores have even used kites as decoration. Hand painted Bali Butterfly Kites are stunning when used as wall art. Customers love to have the added touch of color during their shopping experience. The Bali Butterfly kites are available in several colors and the wing spans up to seven feet.

Are you planning a birthday party for a child? Little boys are wild about the pirate ship kite, the F-16 kite, the Red Baron kite and the ever popular Kitty Hawk kite. When the party is over, use the kite to decorate their room. You will be a hit for years to come. Miniature kites make great favors for kids of any age and make for wonderful entertainment.

If you are decorating your home, office, school or event, be sure to explore the possibility of using kites as art.

Oreintal Rugs Buying Guide: How to Decorate Your Room with a Persian Rug

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:04 pm

Traditionally, oriental rugs were thought of as expensive luxury items affordable only to a select few, but now area rugs have become affordable additions as common to homes as sofas and dining tables. No longer considered expensive accessory pieces, Persian design oriental rugs are now sold as part of the overall decor. Consumers who buy a new dining room or living room set will more than likely purchase oriental rug to complement their selections.

It is important to understand what factors most affect when purchasing an oriental area rug. However, hand-made Persian design oriental rugs have the unique ability to pull an entire room together by offering nothing more than a way to accentuate the furniture itself.

What every rug buyer should know

Oriental rugs can be an intimidating subject to discuss. There are literally thousands of books, brochures, and pamphlets on hand-woven oriental rugs design and construction, so building solid oriental rug knowledge is a life long undertaking. Fortunately every area rug falls into a general design category, a specific type of construction, and contains only a limited number of fibers. If you can develop a good understanding of these basic aspects you can confidently make a decision in purchasing a hand-made Persian design oriental rugs.

Color

Color can set the entire mood for a space and is usually the first criteria on any one s list when purchasing an oriental rug. Each shade sets a different tone and adds intensity to a space. For example, an area rug can open up and brighten a space by using lighter shades, or in contrast, darker shades close in a space and help create a more intimate atmosphere.
Additionally, people who may be looking for an area rug to compliment fabrics or wall treatments. For this customer; the color pallet is specific and may offer limitations; however, oriental rugs are offered in a diverse array of hues. The need for a broad coloration ranges is universally recognized, and hand-made oriental rugs offers a limitless color varieties. This unmatched capability ensures the right color match for any decor.

Designs

Over the past several years the floor covering industry has seen an impressive increase in the installations of hard surface flooring. The durability of these hard surface floors combined with the inexpensive costs of most hand-made oriental area rugs allow homeowners to change the decor of space much more often than in times past. Now, more than ever, design and style play a pivotal role in flooring decisions. Traditional, contemporary and everything in between.

With some of the most fashion forward rugs in the market, today there are designs to fit any lifestyle.

1) Traditional.

Traditional area rugs are typically modern day representations of time
honored European and Asian designs reminiscent of either oriental or
Persian motifs. It is also important to understand when it is referred to
traditional area oriental rugs with Persian designs that we are speaking
about that; the design. True Oriental and Persian rugs are all individually hand knotted of natural fibers made only in the Middle East and far East regions of the world and are priced accordingly.

Traditional designs are sometimes geometric using an allover pattern with lineal components. Traditional geometric patterns are very simplistic and unlike most traditional designs usually have no discernable flow. On the other hand, traditional; designs can be pictorial illustrating elements from nature or from life in general. Floral patterns are also very common traditional designs, utilizing a center medallion of an all over technique. Most floral designs will be framed with a border of some kind and are usually recognized as more Persian Rug than Orientals. Traditional floral designs are also typically considered more formal than most.

Modern day traditional designs rugs utilize color pallets that reflect modern day fashions; however, many still simulate authentic oriental Persian design motifs and utilize natural fibers that provide an antique reproduction appearance.

2) Contemporary.

At the other end of the design spectrum you will find the contemporary
classifications. When describing contemporary area rugs terms such as asymmetrical, architectural, and free form are common. Basically, contemporary designs are characterized by stark contrasts, bold use of color, and often geometric design elements.

One classification with the Contemporary genre is Modern. Modern designs tend to be more architectural in feeling. Many Art-Deco designs fall into this category. They utilize pure geometric design elements along with dazzling variation of primary colors such as blues, greens, and reds. Modern designs tend to be assertive and bold offering a strong statement to a decor. While on the other hand, Retro designs hearken back to styles that were first popular in the 60 s and early 70 s. They take advantage of the free form concept rarely having any rhyme or reason to the flow of the design.

3) Transitional.

In a nutshell, transitional designs are a blend of contemporary with traditional. Also, sometimes referred to as casual, they tend to be more popular with people looking for the elegance of a traditional design without the formality they often project. Transitional are the broadest classification of area rug design and often the most difficult to recognize simply because they can contain so many elements found in both traditional and contemporary area rugs.

However, most transitional designs are characterized through the use of open spaces containing a sparse assortment of design components; sometimes traditional and sometimes contemporary. You will often, but not always, find a border in transitional rugs allowing for a more traditional element to what would otherwise be a contemporary design. Floral and leaf patterns often fall into this classification.

4) Tribal.

Unlike transitional, tribal designs area rugs are probably the easiest classification of oriental rugs. They are characterized by those design elements common to a specific culture or ethnic group. They utilize earth tone colors such as yellow, gold, red, and brown. Tribal designs oriental rugs combine these elements in very exacting and structured designs offering their own interpretation. They lend themselves well to decor that take on specific themes, offering a way to tie the common elements of a particular space together.

Construction

The construction of oriental area rugs, though technical, is a key element in making decision when purchasing a rug. Many people who are looking to purchase an oriental rug are interested in the quality of the rug they are about to purchase. It is important not to become overwhelmed with these facts; however, explaining how a rug came to be and its role in the quality and design adds to the story of the rug and creates confidence in the product.

There is no need to know everything about each construction process but having a general understanding is imperative.

A) Hand-Knotting (or Hand-Weaving).

Hand-knotting is achieved when the craftsman ties of knots pile yarns around woven backing fibers (warp and weft). The resulting face of the rugs is then sheered to a pre-determined height to give the pile uniformity. In general the value of a hand-knotted rug depends on the number of knots per square inch. The more knots per square inch the more valuable the rug.

B) Hand-Tufted.

Hand-tufted rugs utilize a hand held tufting tool called, simply, a tufting gun. The craftsman will use the gun to fire pile yarns through a primary backing material known as a scrim. This process forms a looped pile. If these loops are left intact the rug is referred to as hand-hooked rug whereas if the loops are sheered off to create a cut pile look, you then have a hand-tufted rug. A secondary backing is then applied to the area rug securing the pile yarn in place and adding extra stability.

Of course, hand made oriental rugs take quite a bit more effort to produce and are made from natural fibers; therefor, they tend to be more valuable. However, the natural beauty and subtle imperfections that make each rug unique outweigh any increased expense.

Fiber

There are dozens of materials used in the construction of area rugs. All of which have unique characteristics that offer its own advantages.

1) Wool

Wool is noted for luxury and softness, wool has a high build and is available in many colors.

- Wool can absorb up to 1/3 of its weight in moisture through cuticle pores and has an ouster membrane that repels water. It can be stretched to 30% without breaking.

- Wool rugs have excellent resistance to compression due to the physical nature of wool fiber. It has a natural crimp with millions of coiled molecules, rather than the artificially induced waves found in man-made fibers.

2) Silk

Silk is used either on its own or in combination with wool. Silk is reasonably hard wearing but it lacks the springiness and suppleness of wool; consequently, silk tend to retain any creases or scuffing in the pile, and far greater care is needed to protect them damage.

Its physical beauty is unsurpassed and silk rugs are normally used as

decorative, rather than functional examples of textiles art, either as wall hangings, or floor covering in rooms that rarely see practical use. Silk is also used as a foundation material; it is extremely strong, keep its shape, and can be spun into very fine strands; however, it is only used when exceptionally fine knotting is required.
Understanding basic design concepts is very helpful in selecting an oriental rug. A few basic principles in design coordination include:

Rugs create mood.

Rugs more specifically their shades, add intensity and relevance to a space. For example, an area rug can open up and brighten a space by using lighter shades or in contrast, darker shades close it in and make it more intimate.

Never try to match the main fabric color. Find a rug that uses its main color the same family of colors found in the swatch you are coordinating. For example, it would be impossible to match the exact red found in a pillow. Rather look to see what second or third colors are used in the pillow and match families of colors not specific colors.

Another factor you certainly want to consider is size. From small scatter rugs to palatial carpets, both the actual room size and specific decorating scheme are critical in determining the size of the rug best suited to your needs. Dining room rugs need to be sized for placement of the chairs and the table as well as for the absolute measurements of the room. Take into account how much of the pattern will be hidden or obscured under the table. Obviously a center medallion design would not be the ideal choice for this purpose.

Living rooms can have a wide array of layouts and elements. Sofas, chairs, occasional tables, and lighting fixtures can be arranged in a single unified configuration or in separate seating or conversation areas. In either case your rugs should play a key role in focusing and enhancing the placement of your other furnishings. In effect, they should function as the foundation of your design plan for any area in which they are used. The possibilities of decorating with rugs are endless, and with the Persian design oriental rug collection from the rug weaving capitals of the world, you can be assured of the very best in colors, design from Bijan, and quality for every room in your home.

Traffic makes a difference. One critical element in selecting and area rug that is commonly overlooked is traffic. Understanding how much traffic an area rug will be subjected to is not only important in selecting an appropriate design that can hide dirt but also in selecting a rug that can hold up its appearance.

Improve Hardwood Floors With Rugs and Carpeting

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

Right now hardwood floors seem to be all the rage in home decor, but, surprisingly that doesn’t mean that carpeting is any less popular. Carpet has many advantages even in a home that has hardwood flooring. Particularly popular are area rugs, runners for stairs and even outdoor rugs.

Area rugs are the most versatile type of carpeting. They can be used in rooms with hardwood, linoleum or tiled floors to produce a splash of color or to draw an area together. For example, placing chairs and a coffee table together over a large area rug will make a defined conversational space within a room. Large rugs can also be helpful during the colder months so that your feet are not as chilled when you get out of bed in the morning, especially if you have tile or stone floors.

Another type of carpeting that has many usages are runners. They come in a large variety of lengths, colors and styles. They can be used in a long hallway to accent the area and also on stairs to help with traction. A dining room is another great place to use a runner where it will help to show off your table.

Runners are also worth considering when carpeting your stairs. They are a high traffic area and consequently collect dirt easily which shows more on wooden stairs than it does on carpeted ones. A runner will make them look better and ensure they are easier to clean and maintain. Also, carpeting on stairs makes them safer and, and as long as its installed correctly, will mean less chance of guest and family members slipping and falling.

If none of the above usages of area rugs or runners are what you’re looking for in your home you might want to consider the outside. One of the trendiest things to do this summer is to place a steel gazebo over a very large colorful area rug and then hang coordinating curtains to have create a bright and unique sitting area in the garden. And in the boundary between outside and in, a large welcome mat will not only keep dirt from entering your home but will also serve as a decoration for your porch.

So, whether you’ve hardwood flooring, stone or tiles, you’re thinking about decorating the inside or outside or your home, there are plenty of areas or rooms where you can incorporate carpeting to improve the space. A beautiful area rug, long runners and carpeting for stairs are all great ways to ring the changes and improve your home.

Phil Nichol writes articles for a number of home improvement websites. Topics covered range from information about carpet for stairs to what you should consider before buying used solar panels to home improvement loans and furniture for bedrooms, to name just a few.

How to Design an Efficient Laundry Room

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

Well, I thought long and hard about what I wanted in a laundry room. My design ideas come from things I don’t like and I look for ways to change them. I, myself am I busy and the last thing I want to do is to to wait for the dryer. Solution? I bought 2 stackable dryers at Sears and bolted them together. Sounds simple? Not quite but I will explain the details. First, I make sure to buy gas dryers. Then I hired an licensed electrician and we made sure there was enough power in the laundry room for both dryers. Next, we took the exhaust hose from each dryer and connected them together so they could vent outside. I started doing this 8 years ago and I just love it!

Also, what helps is that I bought a front loader washing machine. It’s more expensive in the beginning but it’s worth its weight in gold when it comes to energy and water consumption. What I have discovered is that the spin cycle gets more water out than a top loader so my dryer time is about 20 minutes. The other great thing about the front loader is that it has a 8 hour delay button. So, I can set it at 10pm and by the morning, the laundry is ready to go into the dryer! Pretty cool!

Another helpful hint is that I put a Kohler Executive Chef sink in my laundry room. Yes, this is a sink intended for the kitchen but I really like it because it has two different sink depths. This is great when you are hand washing items.

This is just one example of where I take a problem and am able to solve it. That’s why I like being a designer!

Floor Fountains – Ideal For the Home Or Office

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

Like any room the floor fountain needs to be suited to your current decoration so it is important to carefully consider what size will fit into the room and the space you have available. Many people will have their floor fountains in conservatories, living rooms, dining rooms or hall ways; however they will generally suite any room.

There are many popular styles to choose from and these range from slate to ceramic, and modern to traditional. Being very easy to maintain they really do make the ideal centre piece for your home or business and require little effort once they are installed in position to keep looking good for many years to come. Not only can you have floor fountains indoors but you can also have them outdoors too should this be a requirement. The perfectly formed structures come in a range of sizes that enable them to be positioned in lots of different areas within the room; many people will have their floor fountains in the living room to add a natural humidifier or as a decorative side arrangement and often they can be found in an entrance hall near the front door. If you have specific colourings in your house then like any good interior design it makes sense to purchase floor fountains that fit into your environment. The stone style ones tend to fit well into a traditional style house where as the more contemporary glass designs are more suited to a new or modern house. It is ultimately down to personal taste as to what the home owner believes will look best within the room that they are looking to place the floor fountain.

The early designs were limited in creativity, however today there is a huge variety to choose from with many really unusual shapes and often they are exceptionally well made. An outstanding level of craftsmanship goes into producing the fountains and this can easily be seen when taking a closer look at the high level of detailing and design quality within the manufacture. Using only the best materials and combining them together to make a truly breathtaking piece and this is just one of the many factors that are combined together to produce the finest floor fountains. Just like many of the wall mounted pieces or any indoor water fountain the floor versions have been built to be efficient in terms of their use of the recirculation of water and to promote stability with many that attach to the floor. The floor attachments are particularly vital especially if you have children or pets that could pull them over or knock them down whilst playing. Every thought has gone into the design of the floor fountains to ensure that they are safe and can be situated in any room in the family home.

Chris Courtis has been writing for Ethan Paul Fountains, they are a leading retailer of indoor and outdoor Floor Fountains
