Church Interior Design For You

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

When you think of church interior design, in most cases you will be thinking of a Christian church. As with all things there are certain elements of the design that need to be captured in order to maintain the continuity between the churches.

Keys To Church Design

However one of the key elements to church interior design is that of stained glass. In medieval times this was considered to be very valuable and many times was a reason for a church to be ransacked. Today it is still a very strong element in the church and is still very expensive, but has not led to many robberies or pillaging as it did at hat time.

Another element that is essential in any Christian church are the Stations of the Cross. This is artwork that is displayed on the walls in a variety of forms that is there to tell the story of how Jesus went through the carrying of and dying on the cross. This is an integral part of any Christian church interior design as it is a large part for the basis of the religion. This artwork can be either extravagant or simple in design as long as it is present and performs the necessary function that it is designed to do and that is to tell a story.

In all, there a total of 14 Stations of the Cross that will be in the church. Each one will have its own title and will somehow portray that title in their imaging. Their will be various types of artwork that can be used, from plaques and tapestries to even simply incorporating it into the stained glass windows that are already there.

The Bread and the Wine

The primary centerpiece of church interior design is the altar. Usually this is constructed of marble and in some cases wood; this is the table so to speak of church interior design. This is where all of the action takes place for the consecration of the Eucharist. The bread and the wine are placed here to be blessed and displayed. It is here that the church will perform its rites. These tables can be simple or elaborate depending on how the church is designed. It is completely up to the church as to how it will be designed and portrayed.

The last primary piece of church interior design is the pew. This is usually a wooden bench for seating which will have a padded kneeler in front of it. It is commonly made of wood and is simple in design.

Keeping Your World in Motion Using Lava Lamps

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:03 pm

Anyone who lived through the 1960s is familiar with lava lamps and what they meant for that bohemian, free love culture. Lava lamps were created 40 years ago, not to be a main light source for families or businesses, but to act as a room decoration.

Lava lamps are tall lamps that look like two triangles put together with one point facing up and another facing down. These motion lamps use heat to move wax within the lamp around the surface of the lamp. The blobs don’t actually produce much light, but they do create a funky mood in a room. Lava lamps come in all different sizes and colors.

Some lava lamps are designed in such a way that they look like stars are running through the lamp. There are other lava lamps that use different colors to create mixed colors. As the LAVA company moved through the years, it adjusted its lava lamps to suit the tastes of new generations.

For a while, it was rather challenging to find lava lamps. Though they were still being sold, some consumers were having a hard time finding local retailers that sold the lamps. If you’re having difficulty finding the lava lamp of your dreams, try the LAVA Web site. This site has lamps and lamp parts as well as advice on how to care for your lava lamp.

Trouble Shooting Lava Lamps

Lava lamps are really cool accessories, but they can cause frustration for some users. To keep your lava lamp frustration at a minimum, try some of these tips. Sometimes lava lamps get cloudy. You’ll know if your lava lamp is cloudy because the color will be muted and blurry. This tends to happen if the lamp has been dropped, shaken or moved while the blobs were warm. These sudden actions can disrupt the wax formations. If you drop your lava lamp, turn it off immediately. Wait until the wax cools and settles at the bottom and then turn it back on. When the wax breaks up, turn it off again. This may clear up the problem.

Also, make sure to keep your lava lamps out of direct sunlight. If you don’t, the color of your lava lamps may fade.

Important Considerations When Selecting Shapes to Decorate Your Nursery

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:02 pm

When preparing a baby nursery, most parents have the room all cute, perhaps a fresh coat of paint and some decoration theme. However, you should make sure that you choose the proper colors and designs so that your new baby will be more comfortable with their surroundings. Here are a few suggestions…

SHAPE DECOR – During your child’s first few months, before they learn to grasp objects or sit up, your baby will enjoy looking at things. Their vision will still be fuzzy at first, and they will focus on objects that are about 8 to 14 inches from her eyes. Your child will be drawn to faces (people, animals, characters, etc.) and well-defined shapes.

Research shows that at four months of age, infants are more likely to use shape differences than color and pattern differences to find object boundaries. By using accents or wall d cor that contains clearly defined shapes and distinct silhouettes will help your child focus better on these objects, which is important in their development.

Babies like shapes, so consider incorporating shapes of both basic (circles, triangle, squares) and complex geometries (i.e. character silhouettes) with sharp contrast ratios. Children are also naturally drawn toward animals so they are also always a great choice.

The key is contrast and that is why defined shapes are more easily seen. You may notice the more expensive infant decor seems to place a premium on defined contrasts of black, white, and red versus the pastels that are more common elsewhere. Since distinguishing between shades of color doesn’t come for a few months, focus on the main thing newborns can see which is contrast and well defined shapes.

Eventually, your child will thoroughly enjoy looking at patterns and bright colors, and the importance of them is discussed next.

Bottom Line…Have Fun: Consider selecting soft, timeless colors for the overall wall which are more soothing for your child, and versatile enough so you do not have to repaint when they out grow the room or you sell your home. Use bold colors and shapes as accent pieces to create a fun environment where your child’s imagination can flourish.

Take your time when designing your nursery and above all enjoy every minute of decorating and preparing for your new child to enter the world. This is one of the first ways to show the love you are going to give your child. Happy decorating.

Switch Plates – A Fixture That Commonly Gets Over Looked

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:02 pm

What is one fixture in your home that you take for granted the most out of all the others? Now, think about it, it’s a pretty obscure piece that actually serves a very practical function? It’s on the wall? You come in contact with it every day? Give up? The answer is switch plates.

Yes, switch plates. They are in every room of every home and they serve one pretty practical purpose and that purpose is to protect you from all the electrical wiring that sits behind it. If those wires were exposed, you and your family would be in quite a bit of trouble because there would be a good chance that without these fixtures, you and your kids could get shocked. Ouch, right? So, their pretty important.

Now, in addition to serving that practical purpose, switch plates have started to evolve over the years and now you can get ones that can actually add a lovely decorative element to any room in your home. How is this possible, well, the reason is that they are crafted out of all sorts of different materials while being finished in a number of lovely ways. For instance, you can get ones that are crafted out of maple wood that feature the natural finish of the wood with a lacquer over it or it can be stained any number of colors. There are even ones made from metal that have forged designs in them and some that have just a brushed finish to take on a gorgeous industrial look.

Now, these aren’t the only materials switch plates can be made out of or finishes that they can have because there are many more available as well. Like, some of the other material options include ceramic, plastic, and even leather while other finishes include hand painted designs, decoupage drawings, and imprinted patterns.

What’s really nice about all the material and finishing options is that it creates switch plates that come in all sorts of styles, themes, designs, shapes, and sizes. For example, maybe your son has a sports theme roomed, like he’s really into football. Then, what you could get for his room would be ones that are in the shape of a football that has the switch opening right where the strings of the football would be. Or, maybe your kitchen space has a very fun feel to it, well, you could get something that is filled with chili peppers or others that have pasta on them.

Basically, with switch plates, there are just a lot of options to choose from and a quick way to see them all is by hitting the Internet for some online shopping. You can breeze through the many choices in a matter of minutes and when you do purchase something, it will be shipped right to you so you don’t have to worry about spending time and money by going to the store.

So, after all this, now you know about switch plates and how you shouldn’t take them for granted because their a pretty important fixture. If we didn’t have them, our homes would be pretty incomplete.

Author Jennifer Akre is an owner of a wide variety of online specialty shops such as http://www.onlyswitchplates.com that offer both items and information on how you can easily furnish and decorate your space. Whether it’s your living, bedroom, or even your deck or patio, there are many tips you can use to make those spots both functional and beautiful. Today, she offers advice on how to create a fabulous living area by using sweetly decorated switch plates in every room.

Choosing a Baby Bath

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 6:02 pm

Decorating ideas can get tossed out by having a baby around, but you do not have to throw the baby out with the baby bath water, as the saying goes. The furnishing and decoration ideas that you cultivated all through adult life, from college through your bachelor or bachelorette years and on into the years of your romantic love nest or private hideway or sophisticated entertainment pad for you and your partner can all get thrown out when you find yourself with a baby in the house. But there are ways to accommodate the little creature without compromising your own sense of style and space.

There are many convenient styles of baby bath on the market, and they are one of the easiest, cheapest, and most convenient ways to convert any kind of bathtub into one suitable and safe for your baby. Whether you have a big lush jacuzzi, an expensive antique copper clawfoot, or a sleek modern concrete bathtub with sweeping curves, you can just buy a baby tub and set it inside, to create the ideal environment and functional tool for giving your child the attention he or she needs.

The baby bath choices are often listed by the age of the baby, with the general understanding that with age, a child will outgrown a baby tub and need another size, sort of the way you and your partner outgrew your cozy little studio apartment and then found yourselves in need of a living space with room for kids. You can choose from those from zero to six months, six months to 2 years, and so forth, and they come in a number of different styles and designs.

Once you have chosen the baby bath you and your baby like, you just put in inside of the existing tub, and that converts a big grown up body of water into a nice shallow baby-sized bathtub that makes it safe and easy to bath your baby with no special preparations. You just put one tub inside another, and then add the baby and the patience and affection needed to bath your little bundle of joy.

From Iron To Steel – The History Of Iron And Why It’s So Popular In Wrought Iron Designs And Decor

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 10:02 pm

Most of what we learn in high school history about Thomas
Edison is all about his successful inventions. Thomas Edison
electricity, the phonograph, and on and on.
We know that Thomas Edison held over 1,093 patents for
a number of different types of inventions. What we don’t know or we very seldom hear is about his failures. One of the most noted failures was his inability to find an
effective way to mine iron ore.

Iron is the cheapest and most common metal available for
mining. Iron is used for making steel. Steel, at the time
that Edison was working on his invention, was very expensive.
The world now and during the life of Edison is very dependent
on steel.

If Edison was successful in creating the extraction process
he would have earned billions of dollars in income,
The possibilities that would extend from that success
would also create millions of jobs, and spur other
inventions.

Iron is useless in its pure form. Iron is brittle and cannot be used to manufacture any products because of this
and other characteristics. Iron in its pure form is a
silver color. The gray that we see in iron comes from
combining iron with oxygen. But iron is not adaptable to
any practical applications on its own.

That is why the discovery of an effective extraction process
was important. Edison worked on this extraction process
from 1880 to 1890. For over ten years, he performed experiments,
hired scientist, and other experts to perfect his extraction
process. The impetus was to provide iron ore to the Pennsylvania
steel mills.

Edison moved his office from a comfortable building to actually
work in the old iron mines to find an economical process to satisfy
the insatiable demands for steel . The testing and processing of
his experiments was very expensive. To finance his invention
Edison sold all his stock in General Electric. His heirs still
regret that to this day.

Edison was never able to find a way to extract the iron from unusable,
low grade ores. Edison eventually abandoned the project. He never
recouped his money that he had invested. Fortunately for Edison,
he continued his work on the phonograph and motion pictures,
and remained financially intact.

Finding a cheaper way to produce steel was not only important to the
financial enhancement of Edison but important to the American
economy. After 1840 the American iron industry was experiencing
a revitalization but American was not the major steel producer in
the world.

In 1844, government surveyors found a large iron ore deposit of
anthracite in the Great Lakes area. Pennsylvania became the nation’s
leading supplier of iron and steel. With the discovery of the rich
iron ore around Lake Superior and the ability to transport the
bounty the mine produce by water, Pennsylvania became the center
of American iron and steel production.

British engineer Henry Bessemer perfected a steel extraction
process. He completed the work that Thomas Edison had started.
Bessemer developed an iron smelting process that made it possible
to produce large quantities of steel. Some manufacturers of steel
use his process to this day.

The invention was an economical and an efficient process to make
steel from iron ore. But a better process was introduced
By Abram S. Hewitt who became a steel magnate that rivaled
Andrew Carnegie was the first American to try the Bessemer
process. He then improved on the process to develop the
the open-hearth converter. American steel makers preferred
the process of Hewitt to that of Bessemer.

The low cost of steel production after this discovery
changed the balance for American industries. American
Industry could now lead the world in steel production.
In 1873 the United States, produced nearly 115,000
tons of steel. As the price of steel continued to drop,
It was possible to use steel in several industries.

Over 70% of the finished steel that is produced in
the United states goes to automotive industry.

12 Guest Room Decoration Tips

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 2:02 am

Is your guest room also an office or cramped storage space? Do you shove your guests in a basement room with little more than a pull-out couch and an old pillow? If so, it’s time to update your space and give your guests a room they can call their own. They will enjoy their time with you more, and the room itself can help make a great impression about your entire home.

Transform that extra, unused room into an oasis to rival any boutique Bed and Breakfast with small luxuries and thoughtful touches that will really make your guests feel welcome. Here are 12 great guest room ideas just for you:

1. Leave a sewing kit in a drawer. Any lost buttons or torn hems can be easily and quickly mended.

2. Always put out fresh, luxury sheets. Opt for a higher thread count of cotton to give your guests the comfort of softness.

3. Use a fresh quilt or duvet cover. If you can’t wash your duvet or quilt, freshen it by spraying it with diluted lavender water and allowing it to air dry on a bright and breezy day.

4. Put out nice, plush towels. Always leave your guests enough towels to get them through their visit and let them keep them either in their room or make space for them on your towel rack. Purchase enough of these towels in advance so there is a set for each individual who visits at the same time.

5. Make them feel like locals with maps and guidebooks for your area. Either have a set of maps and guides on hand for returning guests or simply pop over to the library to pick up a few books on the local layout.

6. Get a luggage rack. A luggage rack or even an extra chair for the room is a nice touch, that lets your guests feel a little less like they’re living out of a suitcase.

7. Put out fresh flowers on the bedside table and make sure there is sufficient water for them to live through the duration of the visit. If the purchase of real flowers is an expense you’d rather not pay, then buy a silk flower arrangement and keep them in an attractive vase. Don’t let them collect dust over time.

8. Give your guests a bit of entertainment. Either put a small television in the corner (with a pair of headphones in case jet-lagged visitors are having trouble sleeping) or a little stereo with a listing of popular local radio stations.

9. A terry cloth robe and fresh slippers are an unexpected treat that lets guests feel comfortable as they make their way to the shower or downstairs for coffee.

10. Always leave out extra blankets in case your guests get cold at night or prefer sleeping a little toastier.

11. Put a small coffee maker or tea kettle on a table in the corner. Include a tray with mugs, spoons and an assortment of coffees, herbal teas, sugar and creamers. Keep the carrying tray clean after spills.

12. Make your guests feel at home with extra closet hangers, lots of dresser space, a spare telephone and a laundry basket for their dirty clothes.

How to Make a Room More Inviting

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 10:02 pm

A room is never a room without furniture and other fixtures. Sometimes, these things enable a room to be cozier and have a different atmosphere when people go inside it. More so, the color of the room can also add character to it and gives a glimpse of what the personality of the person has. The room should also be spacious enough to accommodate the other additions that might come along the way. The rooms in a house are assigned for a specific function thus the furniture that will be placed in it should also compliment the room.

In order to make the room more inviting, you can add other things like wall decorations or even paintings to lighten up the room. They also create a canvass in a bare wall which can really be helpful to people who will be invited to come and stay inside. Having such additions in a room can do wonders to whoever sleeps or stays inside it. Decorations can also take form of vases or paintings. Furniture can also be considered d cor especially if it is unique and peculiar.

Tables and chairs can also lighten up a room depending on its color and design. The material used in making these can also make drastic changes to the aesthetics of a room. For example, the tables and chairs of the kids are normally made by plastic. Such kind of furniture can be bought with designs already. These designs can enhance the child’s want to use his table and chair in studying and eating. It can also help develop the kid’s brain to admire and study colors by merely looking at the chair and table.

Children can personalize their room by adding things that they like such as posters of their favorite superheroes or cartoon characters. Paper toile and even cross-stitched creation can give off a different aura for the room. For those more adventurous, they can even install iron wall d cor in their rooms to give it a different spunk. But of course, whatever design or decoration that will be added should somewhat reflect yourself or perhaps your alter ego. Experiment with the things that you want to see in your room and you might find it hard to believe that these things compliment and go well together.

Rooms also reflect one’s soul. No matter how a person tries to hide it, the room says it all. If the walls of the room would be able to talk, it will surely tell everything they see and heard. This is the sanctuary of people who want to temporarily forget their problems. Also, upon closing the door of their room, they are able to just be themselves without worrying about what people may say to them. This is their safe place and perhaps the only place that they can really pour their hearts out.

The tables and chairs inside the rooms have been witnesses to the triumph and failure of the person therefore they should be taken care of. Having decorations and other fixtures gradually alleviate whatever feeling they have inside them. Iron wall plaques can also be added in order to give a different ambiance to the room.

Office Plants and Interior Design – Combining the Elements

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 2:02 am

When it comes to the interior decoration of our own homes we each have different opinions and tastes with regards to colour, texture and furniture choices. But when it comes to business premises many would argue that a more neutral decor would be more appropriate as not only can your presentation influence potential or existing clients but it can also have a huge impact on your employees.

When designing or re-designing an office space the colour and style are not the only things you have to consider as an employer. Creating a healthy indoor climate is also vital if you want to get the best out of both the building, your employees and of course your customers. A healthy indoor environment can be defined as a space in which every aspect of the surroundings contributes to the productivity, comfort and health and well-being of anyone at work within that space.

More simply put, the space must be well-ventilated, be at an appropriate temperature and humidity level, contain all the relevant equipment and provide adequate lighting and noise levels for employees. On the flip side of this you should also aim to create an office that looks good and that feels nice to be in. There is, after all, nothing worse than a grey drab office that lacks personality. Office plants can of course provide a solution to both these issues as they have significant health and emotional benefits whilst bringing natural colour and ambience to any room.

The location and type of building may be what influences your interior d cor but whether you choose to go for contemporary furnishings or prefer to adopt a classic and more traditional d cor scheme every office needs to have office plants. In contemporary buildings designed to impress with their vast open spaces and cool minimalistic feel, the space whilst great for making an impact can sometimes look sparse and provide perfect acoustics for an echo to develop. Office plants and planted office displays can help combat this as research has shown that plants can actually absorb sound, reducing background noise and preventing echoes.

Establishing the correct and sufficient use of lighting is another essential element of creating a stable and appropriate office environment and there are a great many office plants that do well and look great when situated in these conditions. Offices with poor lighting, for instance, those offices that may have no natural light but rely on artificial lights, can also be transformed by planted office displays.

Incorporating office plants into your interior design plans is essential if you want to achieve a healthy indoor climate from the very beginning. Planted office displays should not simply be thrown together, instead each plant that is used should be carefully considered as many species work well together aesthetically but struggle to survive in certain conditions. The design of the containers your office plants are in is another aspect to consider as there are many different styles and colours available.

Many professional interior landscapers will argue that what they do is an art form; it’s a blend of natural beauty versus manufactured survival. Choosing office plants that complement one another yet suit the space provided is a delicate balancing act and one that should not be taken lightly, after all a poor colour choice can be rectified, a dead office plant remains dead!

Fosters Breathing Space specialise in supplying indoor and office plants for plant displays to brighten up offices, showrooms, and special events. Visit http://www.breathing-space.co.uk for more information.

Filed under: decorator design — by cameron7531 @ 10:02 pm

Christmas is coming up and almost all the people around the globe is preparing for this season. This is the best season to make your home glamorous and elegant. Christmas lights are one of the main decorations that they used in decorating their house. And this is the only season where Christmas lights are being used.

There is one light that doesn’t need to have special event of season to be used. Crystal chandelier is a decoration that most rich and famous person has in their home. The effects if light that it can bring in a home will surely beautify the look of the home.

Having a chandelier inside a home is a good way of showing the standard of living of an individual. And because of its cost, most of the rich and famous do have this light decoration in their home. Typically chandeliers are best for mansions and big rooms and most of them are displayed on the living room to give an elegant look in their place. This will also let the guest to be amazed and appreciate the beauty that a chandelier can give in a home.

Selecting a chandelier for a home is needed especially if you are planning to put it in your living room. You should know what look you want for your home. With its traditional look it may give an old fashion style inside your home if it did not matched the design you have in your living room. So you must consider the furniture you have in your home and do some matching types process to have a perfect look of a chandelier inside your place.

You need to measure the total area of the room before installing a chandelier. Most of the chandeliers are huge so it must be put in a big room so it won’t look too crowded when you install the chandelier. It must be installed in high ceiling to prevent accidents and head bumps.

In installing the chandelier you can ask the expert to do it and because of its size it is difficult to install it by yourself. It is better to remove first the things that you have inside your living room to give enough space in putting the chandelier on the ceiling.

Crystal chandelier size should be appropriate to the total area of the room, if your room is small you might want to choose small chandelier or choose simple light for the room, because it can ruin the beauty of the room if the chandelier size didn’t match the size of the room. So, instead of using chandelier you may want to use dim lights or lights that can be adjusted from dim to bright.
